DemmeHouse does not accept unsolicited manuscripts. However, we invite first time authors to submit a query letter and a book proposal for consideration. While we do
not require authors to have literary representation before making a submission, we encourage authors to send multiple queries to additional book publishers.
During the submission process, we do not accept inquiries from authors who wish to know the status of their book proposals. Authors are contacted by mail with a response. For all submissions that accompany a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope), a response will be sent by letter within 6 - 10 weeks.
A query letter is requested to accompany all proposals. The letter should be precise
and prompt our review of what is written and not how it’s written. A well-written
query letter should capture one’s attention and leave a lasting impression. While an author’s manuscript may be incomplete at the time of making a query submission, a book proposal will guide our decision based on the information provided.
A proposal should include the following:
- Synopsis for each chapter
- Marketing plan (Include how you plan to help promote your book.)
Before making a submission, please be sure to:
- Get feedback on your proposal before sending it
- Be sure to include your contact information
- Include a SASE with sufficient postage
We are unable to mail a response or return any materials unless sufficient
postage is provided.
